Marietta, GA is a historic city in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Prior to the 1820s arrival of European settlers, the region was first inhabited by the Cherokee people. Mary Moore, the wife of Georgia Supreme Court justice Thomas Willis Cobb, is the inspiration behind Marietta, which was established in 1834. As a crucial Confederate supply depot and hospital, Marietta played a significant part in the Civil War. The renowned Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, a significant Confederate victory, took place there in 1864, and the city was also the location. Marietta kept expanding its amenities and infrastructure throughout the 20th century as the city grew and developed.
