Plum is purple with a brownish-gray tinge, as shown at right, or a reddish purple that closely resembles the medium color of plum. A quaternary color on the RYB color wheel, plum is a smooth mix of the tertiary colors red and slate. The first recorded use of plum as a color name in English was in 1805.
