Non-photographic blue (or non-reproduction blue) is a common tool in the graphic design and print industries because it is a specific shade of blue that fine art film graphics cannot detect. This allows developers to write printer notes on the build plate (the image that will be photographed and sent to print) that won’t appear on the final form. It also allows artists to draw sketches without having to erase them after inking.
